Failure!

October 28, 2018

The leak at the back of the camper is still ongoing!

I saw some drips under the back roof support - the calking I did last week to the roof was not the problem but at least I think I have a handle on where to calk next!

Hard to see the water - but I have some pencil arrows pointing down on the aluminum bar showing where the leak is - on the outside of the camper is a trim piece that I am guessing did not get enough caulk originally.  Today I covered most everything in the back area around where the leak was as well as the entire trim area across the camper in case there were other spots that were not quite as well sealed as they should be.

Progress update:

We installed the slide out garbage can in the kitchen.  The door panel will probably be replaced with a new shorter door and we will install a slide out drawer above the garbage can - but for now we just mounted the door that was on the cabinet on the front so we could test it out and see how it was doing to work.  Everything seems good to go.

The deck is almost complete - the floor has been completely encased in calk - the walls are all plastic, rubber coated, and calk, and the roof is in.  And best of all it still folds up like it is supposed to!

Open with the stair installed and down in front of the door

The stair folds up first.

Then the roof folds down by folding the supports up into place where they are held in place by wooden toggles that flip out to hold them while you fold the roof down.

Once the roof is folded down, the deck railings fold down onto the deck and the pins which hold them in place now hold them from unfolding while the back deck folds up.

And finally the back deck folds up to hide everything and keep it all safe and dry!

The roof for the deck also has the integrated lighting which seems to be working out really well - so that is a bonus.

We have been working on cutting a plastic woven outdoor rug down for the deck- we settled on putting down a bead of silicone caulk and covering that with waterproof clear Gorilla tape to prevent unraveling - still too early to see how that will work.

This is the outdoor carpet we will put on the deck floor - Hard to see - but we put down a bead of caulk and gorilla tape over it where we need to cut it to fit the deck floor . . .

Finally - We had to re-do the refrigerator as our previous mounting did not seem firm enough - so this time it is back to wood blocks - no pictures - so you will just have to use your imagination.

Next up is starting on the interior framing for the couch, upper cabinets,  pantry, and finally the island in the kitchen.

And we should probably insulate the French door wall and under the refrigerator before winter sets in for real!
