Lolo National Forest, Montana

August 14, 2023

This year's stay in Idaho was limited to just a few days, and we soon made our way eastward into Montana under mostly cloudy skies.

The Clark Fork river valley was gorgeous

Our destination was a dispersed camping area along the Clark Fork River, and we were so fortunate to find a wonderful (and free!) site right on the river.

Our deck practically overhung the river

Trains ran a few times a day on the other side of the river

We enjoyed our scenic campsite so much, we hardly left it. It was wonderful watching the river and the occasional paddlers that floated by. We did drive around a bit to check out the surrounding area, but mostly we just enjoyed "staying home".

On one of the hotter days, we "rappelled" down the river bank from our campsite and splashed in the cool water of the river for a while.

A little bit of strapping attached to the camper made it easy to get down the river bank

This will go down as another one of our favorite campsites.
