Okatibbee Lake, Mississippi
November 22, 2025
Today's post is short and sweet. We had a fairly long-ish drive from eastern Texas and arrived at our lakeside campsite just before dark. Days are just not as long as they used to be!

Upon crossing the mighty Mississippi, we were definitively not "out west" anymore

We had a gorgeous site overlooking Okatibbee Lake, and we took the opportunity to mostly just absorb it all while the last remnants of autumn lingered around us. We took a walk. We rode our bikes. We sat on the deck watching the birds and the fish jumping out of the water. Not exactly the stuff that makes for gripping content.

Every morning was a misty one

Sometime over this past week, Julie decided that when we arrive at "second retirement" and we have a more permanent abode (whenever that is), she wants to rekindle her hobby with miniatures that she abandoned 40-ish years ago due to, well, life. She has always admired really quaint old cottages, but doesn't think she will ever actually live in one (looking at you, maintenance). So, she thought it might be fun to design one in CAD (complete with all the furnishings) and actually build it in 1/24th scale someday. There are all kinds of really fun tools that didn't exist 40 years ago (3D printer, laser cutter, among others) that can make this a much less tedious venture than it used to be. She mentioned some of these toys out loud to Rick (he likes toys), and now he is trying to figure out where we can stuff a 3D printer in the camper or truck! (Because Rick would love to have a 3D printer to make all kinds of "fixes" for the camper - he already has a list of parts to design and print someday.) 😉
A happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We will be celebrating the holiday with Julie's sister in Atlanta this year!
