Ongoing work . . . .

July 16, 2018

Now into the never ending list of stuff to be done . . . just documenting where we are for future us!

The bed lift sold!  Someone from Kentucky has been looking for one for a while - they bought a used 5th wheel that didn't have one.  So they came out on a Sunday morning and took it out happily.

Once the lift is out - the back of the camper is looking a lot larger and ready for the real remodeling to begin.  You can see the light patch on the floor from the new smoke colored fans . . . And the blue light on the back door (and at the top of the picture) from the old blue fan remaining (can't wait to get rid of that ugly thing).

I put in two more fans, only the fan at the back of the camper remains . . . that will be replaced by a skylight soon.  That will finally get rid of the goofy blue covered fans that came with the camper (who thought blue colored covers was a good idea????).

In the photo above you can also see where the outside speakers used to be.  Now they are covered by marine deck plates that are screwed in and caulked. . . Now we can insulate the wall again behind it with some expanding foam.  Also in the photo the old toy hauler wall vent is now had it's guts removed and it is caulked closed (right next to the door - under the amber light) - ready for filling the wall in with expanding foam to insulate the wall.  There is another one of those vents on the other side of the camper near the rear . . .

And the deck roof is coming together nicely - the glue has dried and it is time for three coats of exterior paint.

Beyond that - a bunch of random activities:

  • The whole camper has now been "waxed" using Nu Finish auto wax (a easy to apply polymer coating)

  • All the plastic bits outside have been covered with 303 Aerospace protectant (a UV blocking coating)

  • The French doors have been ordered from HomeDepot - should be here sometime around the end of July.

  • Started ripping apart the back of the camper to measure for wood and spacing of all the folding items that have to fit in the back.

  • Pulled out some of the floor tie down's in the back of the camper - they are just bolted through the plywood floor so I was able to unbolt it from the bottom and the top and got some nice spare hardware out of the deal.  Not sure where the nuts and washers are going to go when we get to the rest of the camper where there is underbelly covering . . . they may rattle around forever or something if I can't get to them.

  • More caulking of random stuff that looked like it could use it (with RV Pro Flex clear).  Hopefully that will keep water out!

That's all for now!
