Progress!

September 22, 2018

Well - it has been a while since the last post - mostly lazy on the updates.

First up is the kitchen

First done was  the refrigerator which needed a platform under it to raise it up as well as modifications to the outlet.  The existing outlet was connected to the outlet over the counter (next to the stove).  I hooked that outlet into the outlet for the microwave so nothing else is hooked up to the fridge circuit (as that will run from it's own inverter).  Nothing is ever easy - so we also had to take off the trim around the fridge and make it removable to ever get the fridge out again.  And we also ended up making some screw in feet that hold it in place so it doesn't fall out when we travel.

The stove was a little more interesting as it was designed to be plugged in to an outlet - but we wanted to run it with no electricity.  The solution was to get 3 battery powered replacement igniters designed for gas grills (each one can handle two burners) and wire them into the guts of the stove.  There are 4 burners on top and two for the oven (regular oven and broiler).  So now to start the stove you press the proper button to the left of the stove which will spark while holding the gas knob held in.  Overall it works well and solved the problem of having to have electricity for the stove!

Then the big news is that the door finally came in!  So - the second one got lost just like the first one (almost the exact same scenario). . . . Julie spent hours on the phone harassing people to get them to finally do a dock check.  Lo and behold - there it is - who would have thought . . .  So the website updates with delivery information (yea!) for two doors????? yes - they found the first one as well  . , , , So when delivery day came they showed up with two doors and Julie send one back.  The good news about all of this is that Home Depot agreed to drop the price again to around 40% off the original price!

The door is now in place, and we already had ordered a low profile handle for it - so we were able to install that as well.  Unfortunately the quality is not great so the install was a bit of a pain to fix things they didn't really install right . . . but it seems to be coming together pretty well.

Final update is that the connections on the side of the camper for water and electric are awful and several were leaking - so there has been more calking.

I had to remove the fittings to caulk them as they were designed as two piece items that didn't have any gaskets - so even though it was installed properly - the water would still just run inside - so after removing them I could get to the snap fit between the two pieces and caulk that as well.

Then some final caulking on the roof and some rubber plugs on a window and I think we are finally water tight!
