Sawtooth Lake

Photospheres of the hike at Sawtooth Lake: Just a reminder - You can look around in these photos and the box in the left corner allows you to go full screen to get an immersive view.

There is a limit of 8 photospheres on a page for phones, so the original list has been cut down to Rick's 8 favorites.

One photosphere to be cut that was part of the story at the start of the trail with the caption "The start of the trail was nicely wooded.  While it would have been possible to hike to the trailhead from our campground (Stanley Lake), it would have been longer than we bargained for. We drove instead." So just use your imagination 😁.

We reached a stream crossing and a meadow where the trail turned and started climbing for real

This was about 1/2 way up the switchbacks where could see Alpine lake.  We visited that lake on the way down.

This is a pretty good representation of the trail and what the views were for the rest of the way up. Notice the town in the distance (behind you) - that is Stanley.

As we went higher, we just kept getting better views of Alpine lake as well. And looking behind me, you can see the rocky trail and switchback.

We found a rather pleasant spot along Sawtooth Lake to rest and dip our feet in the icy waters. We tested out our handy water filtration device which let us refill our water bottles before we headed down.  Have to say the water was both cold and quite tasty!

Julie lounged by the lake while Rick climbed over some rocks to take more random photos of the never ending views.  This photo really shows the gorgeous lake

This view is about as high as Rick got. You can see the little neighboring lake and the surrounding peaks.

After many switchbacks on the way down, we arrived at Alpine Lake where some guys were jumping off of a large rock on the opposite side of the lake.  This lake was quite pleasant as it was surrounded by trees and large rocks. While we were sitting at our last picture spot we struck up conversation with a backpacker.  He tries to go backpacking at least once a month all year long.  It was really nice to chat with him for a while.
