Texas Bluebonnets

March 18, 2023

On our westward trek through Texas, we stopped in Kerrville for a few nights and did...pretty much nothing. In fact, the highlight of the stay was actually the drive there.

Because springtime in Texas can mean none other than BLUEBONNETS!

This is what they look like close-up.

There were other wildflowers blooming as well.

So this one's a little blurry--we'll just call it "art".

World's largest squirrel?

We passed literally dozens of wineries. Apparently, the Texas Hill Country has about 50 wineries.

We arrived at our campsite in the early evening, shortly before sunset. It was an okay campsite with typical Texas dry scrub landscape.

Most awesome view ever!

It was about 80 degrees when we arrived, but that was not to last. Due to threat of storms that night, we closed up the deck and never bothered to reopen it again (no great loss). We awoke to 40 degrees the next morning (Friday). If it weren't for the sun that afternoon, it probably wouldn't have hit 50 the whole day. It sure didn't on Saturday, topping off at 46 degrees. After doing some grocery shopping and some bolt-tightening on the hitch, we basically hung out inside.

Our campsite was solidly ok.

The brief hour where the sun came out, making that tree look much lusher than it did in person.

Tightening the bolts on the hitch so that they don't break again.

And that's about it folks!
