Visiting Friends and Family in Illinois

September 29, 2024

This is going to be a super short post, but it is not for lack of things we did this past week and a half (or however long it's been--we kind of lost track). On the contrary, we were quite busy visiting with lots of friends and family, some of whom we haven't seen in a while.

Illinois: The land of Lincoln and the Tollway (and our former land)

Our Naperville friends, Lynn and Rob, were gracious enough to let us park in their driveway for the week. (Thanks Lynn and Rob!) While in the area, we also got to visit with both sides of our family, one of Rick's old high school friends, and some old St. Charles friends. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but we had lots of fun, and it was good to catch up with everyone.

After saying goodbye to Naperville, we drove down to Normal to visit our old friends Kim and Greg. It had been a couple of years since we had seen them, and it was good to catch up with them as well. (Thanks Kim and Greg for letting us park in your driveway too!)

Julie doesn't usually take too many pictures when visiting with people, as she prefers photographing nature and scenery, and she is usually too distracted with conversation to remember to take pictures of people anyway. But, here is a random smattering of the few pictures she did take:

Our nephew pitching baseball

Lynn and Rob's fun retro basement bar

Ss. Peter and Paul Church -where we were married 32 years ago

Lincoln Elementary School in St. Charles (where our kids went) closed its doors for the last time

The National Bohemian Cemetery -where Rick's grandparents are interred
